Hi Chris,

The timeout error is most likely generated by the TCPIP stack (7sec timeout).
But DirectUpdate will retry the failed request every xx min (settings dependent) until it succeeds,

So, I guess you can safely ignore as you are aware the pc is very slow :)

For the record, the dyndns server randomly returns "dnserr" when 2 update are sent simultaneously.
THe "dnserr" issue has been reported to dyn.com support.

As a workaround, updating the 2 domains (comma separated) in the same account/request solved the problem.

192.168.x.x IP address range is always ignored, unless the option "Allow private/local IP address" is checked.
Many users are reporting issues with ZoneEdit.

It's surely because one of the URL in the list (see your IP detection settings, group 4) returns an invaalid IP.
Using the log file, you can easily identify the faulty one, then uncheck it from thee list.

It's because the console needs elevated privileges to modify a service status.
You can start it with such privileges using thee icon tray, and selecting "Launch admin now..." with the shield icon.
Maybe you had UAC turned off in your old pc?

Thanks William. From doing a reverse lookup, the IP which is making the connection is from Google, and is their Google Bot spider. If I change the connection to LAN only will that prevent me from using the remote feature? (which I use freqently) Not sure what you mean by "remote feature"....

That's good news.
Another thing that's worth mentionning, ZE only accepts lowercase login in their new server.
So, make sure you enter your login name all lowercase in DIrectUpdate.

I can not reproduce the issue, it appears to work on my machine.

Note that secured updates are only working if the machine sending the request (DirectUpdate engine) is part of the domain.

Certainly because I released a new build (with a new build number) a few days after the initial 461 release.

Check your current engine build number version. It should be lower than 169.

First, there is no need to enter the login/password for a "green "URL.
And you're right, DU automatically unchecks "restricted" URL, but never re-checks them automatically.

Port 3280 is used for web admin (via the browser).
But for the regular admin tool (DUAdmin.exe), port 40019 is used by default.
Both are TCP only (no need to open/forward udp).

So, to use DUAdmin remotely, open port 40019 (TCP).

Apparently, the problem occurs only the 1st day after installation.

Here is a workaround:
- Remove the excluded IP range(s).
- uncheck the URL (to force a remote IP detection)
- once the right IP has been detected, check back the linksys URL.
Now the right IP should be grabbed from the linksys page.

I checked at enom web site and didn't notice any news about a protocol or server modification.
It may be a local problem bewteen you and the enom server...

If the engine crashes, please send me the "DUEngine.exe.exp.log" file (in the install folder).

You can try to upgrade to the "pre 4.0.5" version, available here:

But this version is not supported anymore.

Apparently, it's a "build" problem in the SNMP ip detection plug-in in the 4.0.4
Could you confirm you had the "SNMP ip detection'" plug-in enabled ?

Hi,

Apparently, in he "domain" field, you have to enter only the zone name, without the host.
For example, enter only "dynu.ca", and not "yourname.dynu.ca".

Using the admin module "engine" page or the WinXP "ServiceManager", try to restart the service.

Once restarted, it should be Ok to connect...

Hi,

If the registration page is grayed, it means that the engine is not running (at least that the admin part is not connected to the engine).
What I recommend:
- uninstall 3.6
- reinstall 4.0.4
- enter your reg info in 4.0.4

You do not need "forward" at zoneedit... Simply update an "A" record... For example, if your domain is "yourdomain.com". Hello,

If you created the account in DirectUpdate and unchecked the "disable/ignore account", then updates will be performed each time a new IP is detected.

So, your domain should always resolve to your IP.

"process" is not a valid windows command.
If it's an exe, please use the full path to it, like "c:\apath\process ..."

You can also use the "Taskkill" command !
Use "taskkill /?" for more info
