Error 0x818501f4: Server error

Postby bikini_browser » Tue Aug 02, 2011 12:05 am

Hello!

I am using your software with ZoneEdit. I am also using SBS 2003 behind an ISA 2004 firewall. I believe I opened the correct port for your software (which one is it just in case?).

However when I try to force an update, I get the following error... Can you help me figure out what is causing this problem? PLease advise....

Dale

Same here. DU with ZoneEdit (not legacy). Also running on SBS 2003. Last IP change was successfully updated 30/Jul/2011. IP changed again today but now DU cannot update ZoneEdit.

I was able to update Zone Edit manually.

Just an update...

Yesterday, I one of my SBS Windows 2003 server was using your software with ZoneEdit and everything was fine. Today, I am getting an error when I try to force an update that says I have an invalid login/password combination. I receieved a notice a few weeks ago from ZoneEdit that said my account had been migrated, and I had read some of your forum posts that said I need to change the settings to support non legacy mode for ZoneEdit.

Now I can login to the new ZoneEdit interface and my username and password works there, so I used the SAME username and Password in your software (I never changed it) and it is not working even after I changed the setting to support non legacy mode. I even tryied it using legacy and it still won't update correctly giving me errors.

Now, yesterday, I posted this origional post after creating a brand new account on ZoneEdit and setting up the DNS Records. Directupdate software will NOT Update ZoneEdit on TWO of my Windows 2003 servers. One has a 2004 ISA firewall and the other does not.

I thought a firewall might be the problem but now I am leaning toward believing it is a problem with the interaction between your DirectUpdate software and ZoneEdit.

I need to get this problem solved because one the first customer is not able to get his email for the entire company anymore.

Please rush to find a solution to this problem...

Another update:

I seemed to have solved the problem on the Server behind the ISA firewall. I found that several instances of the DirectUpdate Administration console has been opened. When I closed all but one copy, it updated correctly without an error.

Update:

Contacted ZoneEdit support this morning. Just received this response from them:
Thank you for contacting Customer Care.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having difficulty with your dynamic DNS client. We did have a short outage around that time. The issue has been resolved. Please be sure that you are using http://dynamic.zoneedit.com in your Dynamic DNS client.

Please reply to this message if you still having trouble with dynamic DNS.

I just tested and was able to force an update.

That's good news.
Another thing that's worth mentionning, ZE only accepts lowercase login in their new server.
So, make sure you enter your login name all lowercase in DIrectUpdate.

That can't be true because I am using Proper Case on two servers and it's working fine.

You need to test that before you give information out like that....

Hi Dale,

I got the info from ZoneEdit support:
---------------------------------
The issue is that the login name needs to be in all lower-case for the DDNS login.
Technically it needs to always be all lower-case, but the main ZoneEdit login will work if you capitalize letters.
The password should not be changed from what you use to login on the main ZoneEdit login.

----------------------------------

DirectUpdate supports more than 120 different dynamic dns services.
Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to check everything they say.
Sometimes, I have no choice but trust them.

Sorry about that.
Regards
William
