Web Administration with Firewall

Postby kpearce » Mon Nov 21, 2005 4:15 pm

I Have 4.0.5 Running and it seems to work fine, with the exception of remote administration. My router/firewall is Smoothwall Corp Server 3.0. I am forwarding Port 3280 to the system running DirectUpdate but I am not able to access the remote administration. It is running on Windows 2003 Server. I have tried cahnging the port and restarting the service but after the service restarts the port reverts to 3280. I even tried installing the current beta with no lock. Any ideas?

Does the Web Admin feature work for you from another computer inside the firewall?

Yes if I use http://192.168.10.10:3280

On the firewall I am forwarding port 3280 to 192.168.10.10
All of my other forwards work fine.

What protocol is the forwarding set for -- TCP? Forgive me for not having specific knowledge of your firewall -- I'm just talking in general terms.

It was set for TCP. I have changed to TCP & UDP with still no success.

Open up the DirectUpdate Administration Module.

At the top of the tree on the left, click on Engine.

In the main window, look at the middle section entitled, "Engine administration".

For the option, "Allow administration:", choose the radio button "From everywhere (internet)". The default is likely something else here.

Now try the web admin from outside.

Just Installed 4.12 Bld 151 and set radio button to from everywhere (Internet) Restarted Service and can not access externally. I can access using local I/P on port 3280. Any Thoughts?

Hi,

Port 3280 is used for web admin (via the browser).
But for the regular admin tool (DUAdmin.exe), port 40019 is used by default.
Both are TCP only (no need to open/forward udp).

So, to use DUAdmin remotely, open port 40019 (TCP).

Hope it helps
Regards
William
