DUD and zone edit

Postby shafty » Sat May 28, 2005 1:04 am

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone is getting any issues with the lastest version of DUD software and zone edit DND zones. I am having issues with updating new ips to zone edit. I get a red circle with an X when i run force update on my zones which furthermore become LOCKED! As anyone experienced this yet?

Please need help. I have enterin the corect credentials for logining on to zoneedit and updating my dns.

Paul.

Hello,

May users reported weird behaviour when using "secure updates" with ZoneEdit and 4.0.4 version.
Please, disable "secure update" or try the unofficial 4.0.5 from:
http://www.directupdate.net/download/be ... 05.108.exe

operation timed out

Postby tylerrobbins » Fri Sep 30, 2005 2:13 pm

I am having the Operation Timed Out problem updating ZoneEdit. I downloaded 4.0.5 version and it's still happening (Secure updating was never checked). I have never actually got it to work. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Apparently, ZoneEdit is having some issues with their authentication server.
I sent an email to the ZoneEdit support...
As far as I know, nothing wrong with DirectUpdate :)

Same here

Yup, I am having the same problems with my ZoneEdit zones..

Directupdate tries to update the IP address, and I keep getting 'connection timeout' or somesuch..

I have tried it with secure checked and with it not checked... Same happens either way (although it seems to take a lot longer to 'timeout' with the secure checked)...

I sorta depend on this... I wonder if I should switch DNS providers in the interrim...

I also am having the same problems with ZoneEdit zones..

Directupdate tries to update the IP address, and i get
Error: Operation timed out. - 0x81840002 :(

I have tried all the suggested fixes, hope something can be done about this soon.

Also getting the same error - operation timed out ... quite frustrating really!

If I do it directly in ZoneEdit, no problem, so I know the userid and password are ok. Using "myzone.com" in the domain field and not using the secure connection.

Cheers

I'm just send an email to them to have a status. I'm waiting for answer.
But i've the same problem.

Error 0x81840002:Operation timed out.

I'm got a failover on no-ip.com and this one is working.

It's needed in case on of the DNS Update process failed (like it's for ZoneEdit now).

So how do you do a failover?

Postby no-ip.com » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:43 pm

Wouldn't you have to register the no-ip.com DNS servers with your registrar? Does it work well?

Easy to Fix

Postby Dave » Sun Oct 09, 2005 4:05 pm

Yes! That works!

All you have to do is go to the dns directory in the Direct Update folder and change the zoneedit.com.dud file.

Edit it in notepad and change the line: Server=dynamic.zoneedit.com under the [Update] section to www.zoneedit.com.

Worked immediately for me. You just have to kill and then restart the process.

good luck, Dave

Thx Jay for the workaround !
When I initially contacted ZoneEdit, they say it was certainly an issue in DU...

I just sent another message, to know what's wrong with "dynamic.zoneedit.com".

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately, we experienced a temporary problem with the dynamic DNS
server which caused it to stop updating. The server is now fully
operational, and you should be able to update your zone without a problem.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Let me know if you still have any other questions.

Best Regards,
Grace

I've made a rollback to the normal ZoneEdit du file.

But thanks for this solution
