Postby SteveJFrank » Wed Aug 17, 2005 10:17 pm

I am having problems finding setup instructions for windows 2003 server dns update.

I am not sure what my TSIG is can someone help me?

Here is the msg I am getting from DirectUpdate:

Connection was actively refused by remote host.

TSIG is not used wioth "2k/2003 server" (make sure you selected "Windows 2000/2003 DNS server" dns account type).

First, try to make it work unsecure.
Simply enter the domain to update, and the server name/ip. (keeping "secured update" unchecked and setuping the dns server to accept unsecure update)

When it works, change the server config to accept only secured updated, and click "perform secured update" in DirectUpdate.
If you leave the fields "username/password" empty, the default credentials (the one associated with the account running the engine) will be used.
To specify another account, enter the username (format DOMAIN\user) and password.

Now, a known limitation is the machine running DU must be part of the domain (AD).

Hope it helps
