WorldWideDNS not working properly?

Postby Jim Lewallen » Fri Mar 25, 2005 8:06 am

My Worldwidedns account updates no longer seem to be working. When I update, I get:

Some data were received that can't be interpreted.
0x8183002e

Checking the "View Last Result" button I get a worldwidedns page where the bulk of the body is:

ERROR: not in system.

Thoughts?

New updated plug-in

Postby willynt » Fri Mar 25, 2005 2:07 pm

Hello,

Apparently, the protocol to update a domain changed a little bit.
I uploaded a fixed but UNTESTED plug-in on the web site:
http://www.directupdate.net/download/dn ... ideDNS.dud

Simply:
- Stop the engine.
- Copy/overwrite the dud file in the "dns" subfolder.
- Restart the engine

In the "domain" field, enter "xxx.yourdomain.com" to update the "xxx" host
You can optionally use the "extra info1" field to update more hosts in the same query: syntax "&s1=ftp&t1=A&d1=*IP*" to update the "ftp" host.

Please, keep me informed it it works or not :)
Regards
William

Closer...

Postby Jim Lewallen » Fri Mar 25, 2005 3:55 pm

Closer, I still get:

Some data were received that can't be interpreted.
0x8183002e

But now when I click on view results I get:

211 212 213

I assume that's some sort of unparsed success code?

Thanks for the quick response!

You're right. 211/212/213 means a successfull update.
I'll work on the returned codes asap (next week).
And I'll post the fixed plug-in on the web site...

Thx

Ok,

I posted a fixed plug-in, with the right error/success codes.
As usual, the plug-in is available at:
http://www.directupdate.net/download/dn ... ideDNS.dud

Waiting for your feedbacks

Hi Vinnie,

What's the exact error you get ?
Send me your log file (DULog.txt) for a closer look...
A patch could be available only after I fixed the issue (if any :))

Just so you know, WorldWideDNS seems to not be working right

Postby jameslew » Sun Sep 04, 2005 6:19 pm

Hey Willy,

I noticed last week that the zone tables in WorldWideDNS don't seem to be updating, even though I'm getting success codes back from DirectUpdate. I'm not sure what I should be doing differently - maybe it's time to use another DNS hosting company?
